Bees Knees and Bachelor's Buttons
I followed this bee as he went to every Bachelor's Button flower in my garden...avoiding all kinds of other nice flowers- he was only interested in the Bachelor's Buttons. I didn't realize they are so appealing to bees- good to know.
I wonder what kind of honey that'll make?...Maybe blue?
My bachelor buttons have mostly gone to seed. I've got a pair of goldfinches who visit the garden to snack on them. I think my garden mouse is eating them, too.
Is that flower really blue or did photoshop play a part in that. Just asking cause of the purple one. If it is really that color blue then I have to have them. That is my favorite color blue.
NO, It's totally real! There are different colors of Bachelor's Buttons. The vibrant blue one is great- it's sort-of a periwinkle color, perhaps. Here in MN they are an annual, but I'd like to hear what they do for you in Florida.
I am a bachelor buttons fan. There was actually a study done on plants and music that showed plants grew better to classical music than rock n roll!? Perhaps you need to change your music style..lol!
Love the photos...interesting blog! The music selection while gardening...a nice long drawn out classic rock ballad will do nicely for me...perhaps Pink Floyd.
Gardening doesn't have to be about wearing bonnets, drinking tea, listening to classical music and serving dainty finger sandwiches while you discuss the finer points of an "English Cottage Garden". (No offense if that's what you like)...And nothing against the English...I have friends who speak English.
what people are saying about 'the rock and roll gardener' :
"I like how you have fused your two interests. Now I won't feel guilty anymore when I go in the garden and put on a Clapton or G n' R on the ipod".
"That has got to be the coolest Blotanical post I've ever read...and yes, I'm ready to party! "
"oooh...the dominatrix R'nR gardener...what are you wearing and is it edible"?
"I've said it before, I'm saying it again: You and your blog ROCK"
"Love the blog -Absolute genius! and good to see the 'Hothouse Flowers' are still getting a mention".
"Sheesh, that's awesome..."
(From Japan) "This BROG is nice".

"The pictures are great...awesome shots".

"Cool "Halloween like" tree on right hand side bar" !!!!
If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason. - Jack Handey
Rock and Roll Lifestyle
"One day you'll walk into the tattoo shop of life and say: I'm back. ..I'm ready for my new tattoo, and her name is rock~n~roll...Now it's time to make it permanent. You will have been through all the temporary 15 minutes of flash. You will come to realize that you've been being served fast food music and disposable heroes for too long....You know what the man behind the counter will say? _We knew you'd come back."---Motley Crue

Dude Weather Rocks !
Even if you don't live in the Twin Cities, you gotta check out Dude Weather! My favorite basement studio, chain-smoking weatherman.
You are warm, unique, and pretty dominant.
It's also pretty likely that you smoke or like fire.
You are energetic and intense. You definitely stimulate people.

I gotta try bachelor buttons again. The last time I planted them the bunnies ate them ...

Hi Neza,
Steve may not have time to check your blog, but I did. Not bad!
Great seeing you and Rachael at the draft!
